Remembering Michael Longley

Michael Longley, one of the truly great poets of the English language, died earlier this year. Michael was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the Aspects Festival. He was with us on ten occasions, starting with the very first and concluding with last year’s Festival, where he gave a reading that will long be remembered by all who were present. 

Michael was not only a great poet but also a dear friend to many. His poetic achievements have been celebrated in many places, and today, some of those who had the privilege of knowing him as a friend come together to share their memories and perhaps a favourite poem or two. 

The gathering will be hosted by Aspects’ Founder and Director, Kenneth Irvine, and will feature participants including Seamus McKee, Duke Special, Malachi O’Doherty, Claire Hanna and Michael Lewis.
